“Research Reboot: Mastering AI & Corpus Tools” Equips Scholars with Modern Research Skills and Digital Competencies

NCBA&E Alhamra University, Multan Sub-Campus, successfully concluded a two-day intensive hands-on workshop titled “Research Reboot: Mastering AI & Corpus Tools” held on June 6–7, 2026, at its Bosan Road Campus. The workshop brought together faculty members, MPhil and PhD scholars, and researchers with the objective of enhancing their expertise in contemporary research methodologies, artificial intelligence applications, and corpus-based research tools.

The workshop was organized under the leadership of Director Mian Muhammad Jahangir, with the patronage of Pro-Rector Prof. Dr. M. Asim Rajwana, and coordinated by Associate Dean Prof. Dr. Mamona Khan. The training sessions were led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asim Mehmood, Chairman, Department of English and Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Government College University Faisalabad, who served as the principal resource person. He was joined by Dr. Warda Hassan from Women University Multan and Dr. Nobia Zahra from NUML, who contributed their expertise throughout the workshop.

The first day focused on the ethical and effective integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into academic research. Participants received comprehensive training on AI-assisted literature mapping, responsible use of AI in thesis and dissertation writing, research integrity, and compliance with Higher Education Commission (HEC) plagiarism policies. Scholars actively engaged in practical exercises, applying AI tools directly to their ongoing research projects under expert supervision.

On the second day, the workshop concentrated on the technical foundations of graduate research. Participants were trained in the use of reference management systems, corpus analysis software, and the development of searchable bibliographic databases with accurate citation practices. A distinguishing feature of the workshop was its highly practical approach, with resource persons providing individualized guidance to help participants address challenges related to their own datasets, research projects, and digital research workflows.

The closing ceremony was attended by faculty members, scholars, and resource persons. Certificates of participation were awarded to both trainees and trainers in recognition of their active engagement and valuable contributions to the success of the workshop.

Addressing the participants as Chief Guest, Director Mian Muhammad Jahangir emphasized the growing importance of technological competence in academic research. He noted that ethical AI utilization and effective data management have become essential requirements for modern researchers and play a crucial role in enhancing both the efficiency and credibility of scholarly work.

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. M. Asim Rajwana, Pro-Rector of NCBA&E Alhamra University Multan, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically accomplished but also equipped with the practical and technological competencies required in contemporary professional and research environments.

Prof. Dr. Mamona Khan, Associate Dean and Coordinator of the workshop, highlighted the immediate impact of the training, noting that participants successfully familiarized themselves with ethical AI practices, reference management tools, and corpus research techniques. Scholars were able to apply newly acquired skills directly to their research data during the workshop sessions.

The university administration reiterated its commitment to organizing similar capacity-building initiatives on a regular basis. Such programs play a vital role in strengthening the research culture at NCBA&E Alhamra University, enhancing scholarly productivity, and aligning graduate education with evolving international academic and research standards.
