NCBA&E Alhamra University, Multan Campus, organized an educational visit for MS Clinical Psychology students to the Psychiatry Department of Nishtar Hospital, Multan, on June 5, 2026. The visit was designed to provide students with practical exposure to clinical psychology and psychiatric healthcare practices, enabling them to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional application.
The university extends special appreciation to the worthy Pro-Rector, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asim Rajwana, and Ms. Fakhira Andleeb, Head of the Department of Psychology, whose support, encouragement, and coordination were instrumental in making this valuable learning opportunity possible. Gratitude is also extended to Prof. Dr. Anees Ahmad Ansari, Head of the Department of English, for accompanying the students and supporting them throughout the visit.
During the psychiatric ward rounds, students were guided by Dr. Asif Ali, Dr. Talha, and Dr. Zainab, who provided comprehensive insights into patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and the multidisciplinary approach to mental healthcare. The students observed a variety of psychiatric cases, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of clinical procedures and evidence-based treatment practices.
An informative session was conducted by Senior Clinical Psychologist Ms. Rashda Rehana Mustafa and Dr. Asif Ali, focusing on the significance of mental health, psychological well-being, and the professional responsibilities of clinical psychologists. The speakers also shared valuable guidance regarding higher education, professional growth, and career opportunities within the field of clinical psychology.
The visit was further enriched by a highly interactive session led by Dr. Owais Kareem, Head of the Psychiatry Department. Drawing upon his extensive professional experience, he inspired students by discussing the challenges and rewards of working in mental healthcare and offered practical advice for achieving academic and professional excellence.
As part of the educational tour, students visited the EEG Unit, treatment rooms, and psychiatric wards, where they observed the management and treatment of various psychological and psychiatric disorders. This hands-on exposure significantly enhanced their clinical understanding and provided valuable insights into the realities of mental health practice.
The visit concluded with a gathering over lunch, allowing students to reflect on their learning experience and engage in informal discussions about their future professional aspirations.
